ELAINE BADGLEY ARNOUX (1926-) Is an American painter born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1926 as Helen Elaine Harper. At sge 11, she moved to Southern California, Whittier. She was awarded a Scholarship to Chouinard Art Institute from 1944-46. After marrying and having two children she moved to San Luis Obispo where she worked as a watercolorist depicting landscapes and buildings of the area before divorcing in 1952.
ELaine helped found the San Luis Obispo Art Association in 1952, and was its first president. In 2006, her retrospective was held at the now San Luis Obispo Art Museum. She Married John Badgley, architect in 1952. She was influenced by local serigraphers, Dorothy Bowman & Howard Bradford, began to paint with oils. Elaine met Channing Peake in 1957 who also influenced her work.
