Richard Nash RICHARD NASH is an abstract painter (acrylics) and sculptor (corten steel) whose subject matter is primarily non-representational. His concentration is on composition with color as an accent. Whether the subject matter is representational or non- representational, his paintings are nuanced with layers of depth and color. Nash equates his art with poetry or jazz rather than a novel or classical music. His goal is to create visually enduring 2- and 3- dimensional compositions that continue to engage the willing viewer in an intellectual and spiritual manner. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Nash earned his BFA and MFA from Washington State University; received a 1-year scholarship to study art at Nihon University in Tokyo, Japan; studied the art and architecture of New York City and Europe on a 1- year sabbatical from the Oak Harbor School District during a rewarding 30-year career as an art educator at the secondary level and taught intaglio print-making part time at the community college level. |
